In Nigeria today, only:
- Less than 9% of eligible Nigerian women has been
opportuned to receive CCS services - Screening uptake among rural women was as low as
0.6% compared to 10.2% among women in the urban area.
Invasive cervical cancer is the 4th most common cancer, and a leading cause of death among women across the world. In Nigeria, cervical cancer ranks only behind breast cancer as the foremost cause of cancer burden in Nigeria
- Cervical Cancer (annually) Globally Diagnosed: 570,000 cases. Death: 311,000
- Nigeria Diagnosed: 14,550 cases. Deaths: 9,659
